Crop Modification Techniques
Transgenesis
Genome Editing
This is the insertion of a specific gene through artificial process of recombination DNA technology. In which, DNA spliced regulatory sequences and regulate function of the gene is modified to fit the new trait. The gene expressed ( switch on or off) further is altered.

Example Includes:
Rainbow Papaya
A specific gene from a desired specie is cut and that can be remove, add, or alter to the DNA in the genome; changing their characteristics.
Example Includes:
herbicide resistant canola,
Function: improve crop yields, resistance to drought and diseases in plants
Genetic Modification
Cross Breeding
This is the most common type method use, where two traits are blended for variation. This results in a completely new trait that includes the two trait from its parents.

Example Includes:
Honey crisp Apples, kiwis, blueberries, Gourmet medley tomatoes

Other Crop Modification
Mutagenesis
With the help of radioactivity, certain crops have mutations that alters there taste, color, and much more.

Example Includes:
Asian pears, red grapefruit,
Polyploidy
Protoplast Fusion
For the desired trait of fruits like seedless watermelon, the number of chromosomes are multiplied to affect the fertilization of the watermelon.

Example Includes:
watermelon,
The transferring of traits between different species through fusions of cell components.
Example Includes:
Radishes's male sterility to red cabbage= fusing cells
